31  Introduction

This module demonstrates how to implement two different forms of epidemic-network model feedback in EpiModel. We first provide a general background to the complexites of this feedback and the statistical adjustments to the TERGM coefficients needed to address them. Then, we demonstrate how this feedback occurs in two forms: vital dynamics of birth and death, and mixing based on disease status (serosorting).

31.2 Module Learning Objectives

  • Describe potential sources of model feedback that could impact the network structure.
  • Understand two types of TERGM model coefficient adjustments needed to account for these changes.
  • Implement network-based epidemic models with vital dynamics, using these adjustments.
  • Implement a model with feedback due to changes to nodal attributes.
